One thing beats my mind at events grounds when it comes to songs of old or songs from the past and the younger generation. Knowing the age group that goes to musical events in Ghana, observers at events always ask questions as to how the young ones are able to sing word to word some of these songs of old.
Last Tuesday at the Accra International Conference Centre, Slip Music and MTN, the biggest telecommunication network gave music lovers a beautiful concert headlined by Daddy Lumba, Ofori Amponsah and singer Efya called MTN Music Festival. The “independence concert” that was well attended by fun seekers saw some surprised artistes coming through to entertain the audience and really they served their purpose, to surprise event goers with powerful performances they never expected. Some of the names that came through as surprised artistes were K.K. Kabobo, Kuami Eugene, Yaa Pono, Bless, Krymi and Kidi who also came through as a supporting MC.
Among the Surprised artistes, many thought the new or better still the young artistes were going to wallop the old ones among them but unfortunately, it turned out to be the other way round. Though the young ones gave a good account of themselves on the live band, it was a different story when veteran highlife artiste K.K. Kabobo was introduced unto the stage by Kidi. As a matter of urgency, when Kidi mentioned the name K.K. Kabobo, it was clear many thought it was a prank of a sort but the first voice that came through brought a thundering response from the revelers.
The voice of K.K. Kabobo has not changed a bit despite the fact that age is catching up with him, his energy level was on top form, it was at an all time high as he danced and sung without panting, moving left and right of the stage with excitement. It was obvious K.K. Kabobo was enjoying the response from the audience at the event. Comparing the performance of the young ones and K.K. Kabobo, we at www.sammyflex.com can state categorically that K.K. Kabobo beat the young ones among the surprised artistes especially Kuami Eugene, Bless, Krymi and Yaa Pono with experience in performance. His control and communication with the band were an envy to the young ones and it`s our prayer that they learn from these legends.
Among the artistes who were billed to perform, Ofori Amponsah also carried the day beating Daddy Lumba and Efya on the night hands down. Watch the performance of K.K. Kabobo at the Accra International Conference Centre and how he demolished the young ones.
