Another promising and ambrosial gospel artiste, Rachel Lamptey on the 24th February, 2018 successfully launched her maiden album dubbed ‘Alive Today’ at the Watered Gardens Church in Dansoman, a suburb of Accra.
It was a night of bliss and blessings as industry people and other people massively attended the programme. Great performances were displayed by some prolific gospel artistes.
The gospel artiste though can recount a number of difficulties before releasing her maiden album; she is poised for action and is ready to go through the mill regardless of the situations she confronts. Some of the songs on the album are Sheda, Road, Sun shine among others.
Speaking to www.flexgh.com, the gospel artiste has promised absolutely nothing will frustrate her to stop doing gospel music no matter the weight of the predicaments.
“Nothing will frustrate me to stop doing music. God’s work is forever and unless I die the work would continue. That is why it is even a group. If I am not here today, the group will continue,” Rachel said.
Rachel who is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree in Religious Studies from the Central University in Accra, Ghana, has made it categorically clear that, she is not doing gospel music for money, hence she is not so much concentrating on the commercial side of gospel as widely expected.
“What is business? The Bible says do my work and I will reward you in return. If I am supposed to focus on money, then I wouldn’t be singing. I am a graduate and I can work in an office to support the ministry. Yes, money is good and we need it to come out with our second album but it shouldn’t be the focus as far as the ministry is concerned,” she quickly added.
Rachel Lamptey trained as a Stenographer Secretary but because of her interest and her God-given talent, she earned a place in the National Drama Company and worked as a professional actress for a while. She learnt how to play the flute and performed with it during musical performances by the Drama Company.
She also featured in several award-winning plays and movies both locally and internationally. Among these were – Ananse, Without Her Consent, The Leopard’s Choice, Wedlock of the Gods, Run for Your Wife etc.
Rachel holds a Bsc. in Business Administration from the Central University. She is happily married with three children.
