One of Ghana’s best rappers Tee Rhyme in an interview has said, Ghanaians love rap songs but when it comes to shows they bill singers instead of rappers.
On Sammy Flex TV’s “REAL TALK” he reiterated that people love it most when rappers go hard in terms of punchlines and word play but still they don’t get shows to play unlike Kuami Eugene and other artistes who are singers.
The “Twa Wanum” hit maker revealed that, hard core rap doesn’t pay in Ghana although Ghanaians love their kind of rap but always fail to call them for shows and even before an event promoter will bill a rapper for a show, unless his songs are commercial and danceable.
“If you are a rapper and you only focus on rap claiming to be the rap king in Ghana, you will surely go hungry and if care is not taken you wouldn’t be able to pay your house rent no organizer will call you for a show” he advised.
“I never knew the difference between music and rap music until I released “Twa Wa Num” though it’s a hip hop song but I commercialized it and it has paid me very well. I had a couple of shows out of that song” he revealed.
Tee Rhyme is preparing for his Twa Wa Num Concert on Saturday 21st December at Tabora Alhaji and he has has invited his colleague rappers to come on board to support his first ever concert in the capital. Already, rappers Obibini, Koo Ntakra, Pope Skinny, Cabum and more are coming for this first event in Accra.
